  • Trumka endorses capital stewardship agenda at 2011 CLC Convention

Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO, addressed over 2,000 trade unionists at the triennial convention of the Canadian Labour Congress, held in Vancouver this week. The labour leader again stressed the need for the global labour movement to use capital strategies as part of their toolkit in fighting corporate abuses of workers’ rights.

He also acknowledged and thanked CWC Chair Ken Georgetti for his contribution in keeping capital stewardship on the labour movement’s agenda:

"Another area where we’re making change is our work to expand on new models to organize workers’ capital and to make sure workers’ pension and welfare funds are invested in workers’ best long-term interest—we’re grateful for Ken’s leadership in putting these capital strategies onto the global labor movement’s agenda."
